When Hue House launched, the team knew that empowering Black creatives and creative entrepreneurs was at the top of the list. While each founding member is well-connected and full of resources in their own right, they knew that teaming up with an organization that also supported their mission, was key.

The Arts and Science Council of Charlotte (ASC) understands that cultural equity is critical to the long-term viability of the arts and cultural sector. When they learned of what Hue House was doing, it was a no brainer to figure out ways in which they could support. As a way to amplify the work that Hue House was doing, ASC decided to team up with the agency for a series of workshops that were geared toward the learning needs of the local creative community.

The initial plan to was to host three in-person events over the course of a few months,. But as 2020 continued to unfold, Hue House pivoted into a live online format. This “new normal” also created the opportunity for an additional workshop teaching creatives how to shift their creative work to virtual spaces.

“Working with Hue House has been a great experience,” Holly Whisman, ASC’s vice president of grants and services told The Block. “Every member of the collective has been responsive and timely in communication. They have leveraged their unique skills and experience to develop engaging and meaningful learning opportunities for our shared constituents. Our community is stronger for our partnership.”
