7 Ways to Affirm, Celebrate the Black Women You Love

    Views 2.42k

If the Supreme Court confirmation hearings have shown us anything, it’s that Black Women are long overdue to be celebrated and uplifted. Sen. Corey Booker’s display of affection to Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson not only brought her to tears, but allowed Black women everywhere to release the breath they too had been holding on to.

Every month and every day is worthy of singing the praises of the Black women in your life. Here are seven ways you can share your adoration without referencing their outer beauty:

“You make me feel like I’m standing in the sun.”

Use this when: You want to show your appreciation for the warmth, love and peace a Black woman brings to your life.

“Your mind works in ways that are far beyond most people.”

Use this when: You want to highlight their genius thinking, ideas and passions.

“Your ability to create inspires people.”

Use this when: You see a Black woman who may need to be re-inspired to create what she’s called to create.

“Your friendship is what young girls aspire to have in their lives.”

Use this when: You want to share your gratitude for the role they play in your life.

“Thank you for showing up today.”

Use this when: You see a Black woman who was able to show up despite all that she may be facing in her personal life.

    “Thank you for your vulnerability.”

Use this when: A Black woman in your life shares information about her life, business or dreams.

“How can I support you today?”

Use this when: You see a Black woman doing it all, working to be superwoman. Asking for ways to serve will only strengthen a friendship or relationship.

If you’re a Black woman reading this, what other ways do you enjoy hearing you’re needed and appreciated? Let us know in the comments below!
