That’s the greeting you’ll hear when you step into the new Veltree Soulful Vegan Cuisine restaurant location in Charlotte.
The dynamic Black woman duo consists of Treona Kelty-Jacobs and her wife, Chef Velvet Jacobs. This team has built an experience designed to feel like you’re walking into your auntie’s house. Equipped with a dining and lounge area, at VelTree you don’t just come for the food—you come for good music and even better company.
This fresh idea was first born out of their own desires for vegan soulfood.
When we moved to Charlotte, we were looking for a restaurant that served good vegan soul food and we couldn’t find it, so we created it.

You may know Veltree from its original location in University City. Now, they’ve officially opened their doors to a larger location in Ballantyne. The team is not only excited to be growing in Charlotte, but throughout the U.S. Currently, Veltree operates locations in North Carolina and Los Angeles (thanks to Nick Cannon’s help) with more locations to come.
Just as much as Veltree wants to feed you their great food, they also want to feed your soul. The brand stands on making a plant-based lifestyle accessible to the Black community. Additionally, they want to continue to share about what a vegan lifestyle actually looks like.
As you make your way over to Ballantyne, we highly recommend trying their yams. This popular menu item will instantly transport you to grandma’s kitchen. Other menu items to try: drumsticks, shrimp and country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Author and social media personality Tabitha Brown even sings praises for their delicious menu!
